Jackie Trebilcock (bio), Managing Director of New York Fashion Tech Lab (a community-driven, relationship building, collaboration & business development platform), returns to the show for an update with Pavan Bahl, Rob Sanchez, and Marc Raco on location at 2016 Fashion Digital NY.
A new focus, successes, and a place in the ecosystem
Trebilcock reviews what the lab is and how to apply, why she is at Fashion Digital, keep her finger on the pulse of fashion tech, why the lab’s description changed to a focus on women-led companies last year to be more in line with Springboard Enterprise’s mission, challenges related to concentrating on female founders/cofounders, and how the change impacted applications. A discussion NYFTL-alumni innovations used as examples of success, what ahs happened to the 24 companies so far, the ways NYFTL continues to be a supportive resource to alumni, success of previous participants Claire (Episode 90] and Smartzer [Episode 89], and 2016 as a rise of incubation and acceleration and playing inside this ecosystem as it grows and within NYFTL’s niche.

Keeping fashion tech in New York and helping women, whether the Lab takes equity, and why there is a fee to participate. How the success of the program has changed expectations of applicants and brands, how the lab can help companies who are not a fit, focus on being helpful to the whole community, what solutions and categories of innovation have excited Trebilcock most, and what’s ahead for the Lab.
